Why Choose a German Kitchen?
In most properties, the kitchen is the heart of a home. It is where we spend time cooking, socialising, cleaning and unwinding. It’s important to not only have a space that works for you, but also one that you can be proud of.
Here at iKan Kitchens near Kendal in Cumbria we exclusively supply high-quality German kitchens for our customers. Our blog looks into the the quality and unique features that a German kitchen offers.
Manufacture
All our German kitchens come as pre built units direct from the factory using HIGH DENSITY panels opposed to medium density. Along with the extra durable carcass legs, this gives unbeatable stability ensuring quality, rigidity and longevity.
There are a wide range of standard carcass heights and widths as standard, with bespoke sizes possible this maximises design potential. With the units being slightly taller than most we use a shorter height plinth which gives you 2 shelves as standard in the base units rather than one providing improved storage
Our German kitchens are built using the leading hardware manufacturers – Blum and Hettich for the hinges and drawer boxes, ensuring high quality that will stand the test of time.
If all this wasn’t enough our German kitchens come with built in door cushioning, anti-slip mats to drawers and Aluminium sink base protection plate all come as standard.
Unique features
Aside from the quality build of our German kitchens, one of the largest selling points of these kitchens is the unique design options available.
11° Angle Units

As well as being a unique addition, these units are a fantastic way of combining 2 different colour palettes.
11° angle units are ideal for small areas as they can reduce the amount of space taken up while increasing storage. If you would like to look at these in person, please feel free to visit our showroom where we have several examples.
Colour Matched Handles

Sometimes cabinet handles can be a fantastic feature. There are many different styles and shapes available, giving you full control over the appearance. At Ikan we supply powder-coated handles which can be matched to the colour of your cupboards.
As well as matching a colour, you can create your own unique look by selecting from a variety of contrasting shades.
Multi-Level End Base Units

One of the most important aspects of a kitchen is storage of food, drinks, and crockery. With multi-level end base units, you can make the most of the cupboard space available. These are 3 sided interlocking drawers which can be designed in a variety of combinations.
These units are available to view in our showroom and we are more than happy to talk you through the combinations.
Tall Multi-Corner Shelf End Units
Alongside multi-level, there are also tall multi-corner shelf end units. These are attractive and add something different whilst creating usable space. Open-ended shelving units have internal drawers, pullout system storage or shelves, perfect for display items, cookbooks and more. Visit our showroom for more details.
Carcass Colour
There are a variety of carcass colour options at no extra cost. This means depending on the colour you choose, you can colour match the inside of your units to the door colour. This can also reduce the cost of having end panels or give you the option to use contrasting colours, allowing that little extra design element.
RAL Colours and Other Styles

Using RAL colour charts, your kitchen can be customised to suit your specific style and taste. Whether you want a bold and unique colour or have a more reserved palette, there will be the perfect option for you. Finishes to pick from include high gloss as well as matt or textured.
On top of this, book-matched wood grains are available. You can easily view any of these styles and finish options at our showroom.
